Art Choices
Watercolor Exploration and Nature Play
Students will explore a variety of watercolor techniques using mixed media with a focus on play. This form of watercolor play will be great for beginners and experienced watercolorists will benefit as well. We will also explore art through some nature sensory experiences throughout the weekend. All other materials will be provided.
Print Making
Participants will have the opportunity to explore some beginning print making techniques. Soft cut and linoleum supplies will be provided.
Book Making
You will be lead through details of how to construct a variety of handmade book designs. These books can be used to compile all of the projects that you created throughout the weekend, a journal, a gift, or any other idea you may have.
What to Expect At Camp Menogyn and the Retreat
Pontoon ride across the lake!!
There are no roads that go directly to the camp. You will park on the other side of the lake in the parking lot and a pontoon will bring you and your gear across. It is about one mile across the lake to Menogyn.
Art: We will will divide up into smaller groups. The small groups help keep each session more participant focused and provide for more work space. Each day will be split in half for art making and exploring the area around us (or reading, taking a nap…).
Energy Healing: There will be Energy Healing providers available for their wonderful services! Fee per provider is above the registration fee. You will pay provider directly. Fee TBA.
Yoga: Morning and evening sessions will be available at your choice. Please bring your own mat.
Canoe: Access to canoes, life jackets and paddles. West Bearskin lake is a beautiful lake to paddle around and has two entry points to the BWCA.
Hiking: There are short half day hikes near by Menogyn with breathtaking views.
Bedding: Bring your own bedding (Sleeping bag or sheets and blankets). Cabins are heated! More details once you register.
Lodging: This is a camp, so you will be sleeping in bunk beds. Rooms will be shared. Questions? Contact Angie Brain for inquiry at signatureartsbuilding@gmail.com.
Meals: YMCA Camp Menogyn makes all their own food from scratch in the camp kitchen. Dietary and food restrictions are respected and followed.
